Special Message from the Rector: Announcing New Call and Last Sunday at St. John’s

Dear People of St. John’s,

Summer 2021 has been a strange season for us. We have gone through so many emotions in the past months. Our Holy Scriptures are full of stories of people experiencing difficult times and trials, while it also gives witness to God’s loving-kindness and compassion for the people. I know that Holy Wisdom and Divine Love have been our companions in this time of transition.

In August, I announced that our time in ministry together was coming to an end. I have accepted a call to serve as Canon and Priest Associate at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Seattle. I am deeply grateful for your prayers and support during my time of discernment. I am incredibly thankful to the work of the Vestry and for the courageous, non-anxious, and gracious leadership of the Wardens: Chris Bee Kenagy, Jackie Grove, and Chris Fickle.

My last Sunday at St. John’s will be October 17. While the time for our farewell is coming, the mission of St. John’s guided by the Holy Spirit continues. I sense an awakening of energy and passion among you for who God is calling St. John’s to be in this new season. Moments of crisis and trials can also be fertile moments for renewal.

Anytime a rector leaves a parish, the congregation and the Rector encounter mixed feelings of gratitude and grief, along with a combination of hope and anxiety about what comes next. Bishop Greg and Canon Arienne will continue working with the Wardens to set a faithful process of support and leadership.

I want to thank you all for the many ways you allowed me to be your pastor and priest. For now, we still have some time to give thanks to God for the privilege and blessing of these four years together.

In faith, hope and love,
The Rev. Eliacín Rosario-Cruz

Update: Lastest Guidelines for Sunday Services

The Rev. Eliacín Rosario-Cruz is delighted to announce that we will begin Eucharistic Service in-person worship again at St. John’s Parish Hall on July 4, 2021.

In-Person Service Sundays at 10:00 AM

•    No need for Pre-registration.  Capacity for 65 people in our Parish Hall.
•    No Screening upon arrival.
•    A sanitation station will continue to be available at the entrance.
•    Masks continue to be required inside the building for the sake of those people for whom vaccination is not possible at this time (children, persons with immunological considerations, and other health conditions). Masks are optional outside the building, as in the courtyard.
•    Anyone with symptoms of illness is asked to stay home.

About Holy Communion

  • Holy Communion resumes in modified form. The priest will consecrate both bread and wine. The common cup will not resume at Holy Eucharist yet. You will receive bread. Know that there is such thing as half-communion.  Those who receive only the bread have paricipated in Full Communion; this has always been the case. Gluten-free wafers will be available as well.
  • Those who want to receive Communion will be asked to sanitize their hands at the sanitation station before receiving the bread.
